Transcript:

Sarah Olson:
Welcome back to another episode of Around Town. I’m your host, Sarah Olson, and today with me we have Jennifer Lee with Zen Jen Holistic.

Sarah Olson:
I got it right!

Jennifer Lee:
Yeah, you did!

Sarah Olson:
I’m so excited. Thank you for being on the show. Holistic health—tell me about your business.

Jennifer Lee:
Yeah, absolutely. So the holistic aspect focuses on the whole body. I’m a Reiki practitioner, so we focus on energy healing. It’s not just about calming the body down—it’s good for our mental health, emotional health, and every other type of health there is. I also highly focus on self-love, self-compassion, and self-worth. There’s that overall wellness aspect.

Sarah Olson:
How did you get involved with this? Was it your upbringing, or how did this come about?

Jennifer Lee:
No. Seven years ago now, I decided I was looking for something new to help me heal. I experienced childhood trauma.

Sarah Olson:
Oh, I’m sorry.

Jennifer Lee:
Like a lot of people, we search for things outside of ourselves to make us happy. I was really trying to find a way to make myself happy, so that introspection began. I started doing yoga, getting into essential oils and crystals—all the fun stuff. Then someone brought me to Reiki, and I was like, “Hey, I don’t know what this is, but I’m going to try it.”

I instantly fell in love because it was the first thing that allowed me to have an emotional release that I had been holding in for ten-plus years. After my first session, I continued going, and I realized I wanted to help people the way this had helped me. So I got my certification so I could do that.

Sarah Olson:
So what exactly is Reiki?

Jennifer Lee:
Reiki, in a nutshell, is energy healing. It’s non-touch, so it can be experienced virtually or in person. The great thing about it is—it’s kind of like listening to a really fun, upbeat song. It doesn’t matter where you are; you still feel that good energy and vibe. Reiki helps us recenter, rebalance, and really uplift our mood.

Sarah Olson:
So it could help with emotional stress. What about physical stress? I’ve heard of digestive issues being helped with kinetic healing—am I saying that right?

Jennifer Lee:
Yes. What I’ve noticed is—it’s not medical or anything—but it can help people with many types of ailments. I’ve worked with people who’ve had cancer, and it’s really helped ease their pain. I suffer from migraines, and it helps with those. It helps take the edge off without immediately reaching for medication, so it can help with physical ailments too.

Sarah Olson:
So all ages—what’s the youngest age group?

Jennifer Lee:
Reiki is for anyone and everyone—even animals.

Sarah Olson:
Really?

Jennifer Lee:
Yes. But I primarily focus on that sweet spot between 35 and 55—where stress and hormones really come into play.

Sarah Olson:
Exactly.

Jennifer Lee:
That constant pressure from work, life stress, or people who feel like they’ve lived life a certain way but now want to uplevel and really step into their power.

Sarah Olson:
Women and men?

Jennifer Lee:
Yes, both.

Sarah Olson:
Where is your practice located?

Jennifer Lee:
I’m mostly virtual.

Sarah Olson:
So anywhere in the United States?

Jennifer Lee:
Absolutely—and worldwide. I’ve worked with people in Greece and Australia.

Sarah Olson:
Oh my!

Jennifer Lee:
Yeah, it’s fantastic.

Sarah Olson:
What’s the most common question you get from someone who’s reaching out?

Jennifer Lee:
Lately, I’ve been working with a lot of people experiencing low self-worth. They might be trying to manifest a partner or lacking the confidence to go after a promotion. Self-worth and self-compassion are really what I’m seeing right now.

Sarah Olson:
That’s very timely—with inflation and everything going on. It’s stressful to be a human.

Jennifer Lee:
Yeah, it really is.

Sarah Olson:
Especially as a mom and all the things.

Jennifer Lee:
Yes.

Sarah Olson:
Any tips you can give someone who’s going through something—besides booking a Zoom call?

Jennifer Lee:
Absolutely. You can follow me on Instagram at Zen Jen Holistic—with two i’s. I share wellness tips there because I believe in treating the whole body and giving people tools they can use between sessions. You come to me so we can partner together—not so I can fix you. I want to empower you with tools so you can do the work yourself too.

You can also email me at [email protected].

Sarah Olson:
I love that. Oh my gosh—I feel better just being in your aura.

Jennifer Lee:
Thank you.

Sarah Olson:
Thank you so much for being on the show and making the trip from St. Johns. I really appreciate you being here. For more information on Jennifer and how to reach her, you can find her on HGTVJax.com.
